Harassment and Assault Support Services

At SIBT, we’re committed to providing a safe, supportive and caring learning and working environment that is free from both harassment and assault as outlined under state and federal law. Our Safe Campus Community Committee works with students and staff to build awareness about the importance of a safe campus and works to ensure this. 

Support is available on campus. If you want to speak privately with our free student Counselling Service or Welfare Service, please contact reception or book a one-on-one appointment with our Student Counsellor.

There are many services throughout NSW that provide free counselling to victims of sexual assault:

  • Free 24/7 counselling for sexual assault is available at 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732)
  • Lifeline on 13 11 14
  • NSW Rape Crisis is a 24/7 telephone (1800 424 017) and online crisis counselling service for anyone in NSW—men and women—who has experienced or is at risk of sexual assault
  • ACON have a range of resources and support services for LGBTIQ people (9206 2000) and at Say it out Loud.
  • NSW Health has a network of specialist Sexual Assault Services (SAS) delivered by local health districts
  • Police – Contact 000 in an emergency. Police are well trained to provide assistance to people who have been sexually assaulted. You can report a sexual assault at your nearest Police station. SIBT counselling staff, NSW Health sexual assault services, and 1800RESPECT can also help facilitate this process.
