SIBT provides free one-on-one, individualised academic support. Our Student Learning Advisors can assist with academic writing and referencing, assignment help, maths support, study planning and exam preparation. There are also free academic skills and maths support workshops during the teaching session. To book individualised support go to https://calendly.com/student-services-teams.
This program helps students adapt to their new learning environment and the Australian culture. Sharing their passion and experience, senior SIBT students, who are trained as mentors, are available to make each new comer feel welcome and provide information about academic and campus life. This ongoing support and guidance continues during the students first few weeks at SIBT.
Being in a more personal learning environment means that the academic performance of every student is closely monitored. For students who do not meet the required academic standards, SIBT runs additional one-on-one sessions and support programs to help them to improve their results. This enables students to focus efforts on their core development areas to ensure gaps are addressed immediately, giving each student the best chance of turning their university dream into reality.
SIBT believes it’s essential that focused support programs are embedded into individual units of study to prepare students for university success. These cover subject matters such as literacy, time management skills, self-directed learning skills, assignment preparation and stress management, which all help to improve academic performance.
SIBT offers a Tertiary Orientation Preparation Program (TOPP) to all diploma students. The program is designed to equip students with the academic, technological and personal skills needed to succeed while completing their diploma studies. It is compulsory and will assist students in understanding academic conventions, expectations around academic delivery and the requirements for developing an assessment, as well as give opportunities for engaging directly with lecturers and other students.
SIBT has a calendar of social events to help students integrate with their fellow peers, make new friends, try new activities and visit places in Sydney. This includes fun and exciting activities such as rock climbing, pizza parties, social dinners and sightseeing tours.
The SIBT social media channels are also great platforms for sharing information and ideas, and to keep up to date with all that’s going on at SIBT and to connect with fellow students.
