Disability Support

Disability Support

At SIBT, we are committed to providing equal and inclusive opportunities for students with disabilities and promote a flexible teaching and learning environment to meet the needs of a diverse range of students. We encourage students to provide information and evidence (including medical or other professional advice) regarding the nature of their disability and special needs during the application and enrolment process, so they receive sufficient support to be able to succeed in their chosen program of study. Any information provided remains confidential with the Student Counsellor.

We are also dedicated to maintaining a learning environment that promotes dignity, acknowledges students' privacy and confidentiality, and promotes an awareness of students' needs and rights. All SIBT classrooms are fitted with hearing loops for the hearing impaired, and accommodations are made to support students with disabilities throughout their studies, ensuring that they have equal access to the teaching and learning environment.

Academic Integration Plan (AIP)

We can support and assist future and current students with disabilities and chronic health conditions to reach their full academic potential. Students with a temporary injury may also be eligible for assistance.

Students are able to access free and confidential support through student services by booking an appointment.

What is an Academic Integration Plan (AIP)?

An AIP is a document established with you and the student counsellor outlining the 'reasonable adjustments' or academic strategies that support you to complete your academic work while managing your condition. Your AIP is implemented by various departments including your Teachers, Administration, Student Services and Support Staff.
