Macquarie University offers a variety of accommodation options to suit your individual lifestyle and budget. SIBT students are welcome to utilise the Macquarie Accommodation Service to book on-campus accommodation. Places on-campus are limited and we recommend you make a booking as soon as you have accepted your SIBT offer.

If you have not decided where you would like to live, we recommend arranging temporary accommodation or a minimum four week homestay so that you have accommodation secured when you first arrive.

Students have a range of accommodation options available to them when then study at SIBT. These include:

Live with an Australian family

If you want to experience living with a local Sydney family or need temporary accommodation until you find a suitable place to stay, homestay is a good option for you. Homestay gives students the opportunity to settle in quickly with the help of their host families. Students can take time to look for suitable permanent accommodation after they arrive without having to worry about food and lodging in their first few weeks of their stay in Australia.

Homestay is ideal for students who are interested in having a home away from home experience with people helping them find their way around the city, taking them to interesting places, and encouraging them to practise their English speaking skills. Homestay also enables students to gain an insight into Australian life and offers a unique opportunity to experience Australian culture first hand by participating in the daily routine of the host family's life. Host families take an active interest in their students and assist them to assimilate into their new environment. This helps to facilitate a smooth transition into the students' formal studies.

Macquarie University provides an Accommodation Resource Room for students wishing to locate their own off-campus accommodation. Advice and information is available regarding private rental and share accommodation as well as assistance in making appointments for inspections. Airport pick-up

Top

Students are welcome to book airport reception by emailing airportexpress@bigpond.com. The approximate cost is A$60.

Students who have applied and secured on-campus accommodation at Balaclava apartments and Macquarie Parklands will receive free airport pick-up.

Students meet the driver at the International Terminal 'meeting place' one hour after their planned time of arrival and will be met with an SIBT sign with their name. This is the maximum wait students will incur.
